Croatian Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development Minister Petar Cobankovic and Italian Agriculture, Food and Forestry Minister Giancarlo Galan signed a memorandum of understanding in agriculture and rural development in Zagreb on Wednesday.
The document, signed as part of the second session of the two ministries' coordinating committee, will provide for closer cooperation in rural development, cattle farming and organisation of the market of cattle products, and improve trade in fruit and vegetables and the exchange of research information.
Minister Galan, who was on a three-day visit to Croatia, and his host discussed ways of improving cooperation in agriculture, food industry and rural development as part of the process of Croatia's integration with the EU.
The Croatian-Italian coordinating committee meets once a year and its mission is to intensify the political, economic, cross-border and regional cooperation between the two countries.
The committee was established in line with a memorandum of cooperation signed by the two governments in January 2009.
