Zagreb County Court on Tuesday in the trial against former PM Ivo Sanader in the Fimi Media scandal heard testimonies of former CEO of the IGH engineering institute Petar Djukan and former CEO of the Dalekovod transmission line company Luka Milicic over alleged donations of 4 million kuna handed over to spokesman for the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Ratko Macek.

Djukan said that ahead of the 2005 presidential election he had urged acquaintances to collect monies to prevent the election of former president Stjepan Mesic who according to Djukan, was not worthy of that office because he had systematically worked against IGH.

Some time later Milicic gave him a sack with four million kuna which he was supposed to take to the HDZ.

"I didn't see the money, and I carried it in a sack and handed it over to Macek", but I did not sign anything.

The trial continues on Wednesday when Sanader's friend and former MP Jerko Rosin is expected to testify as is MP Stjepan Fiolic who has been charged together with Sanader for the unlawful sale of property to the former regional development ministry.

Charges in the Fimi Media trial of alleged syphoning around HRK 70 million into a party slush fund have been admitted by all those charged except the former PM and former HDZ leader Sanader and the former party's spokesman Macek. The defence for the HDZ however claims that the "slush fund" was set up without the knowledge of the party's organisations.
