Diocletian's Days, an event in which the City of Split organises outdoor programmes reconstructing the way of life during the Diocletian rule, will start on Friday and last until Monday.
Actor Goran Markovic will play the role of Diocletian, Roman Emperor from 284 to 305 who built his palace on the Dalmatian coast and this palace eventually became the core of the modern-day city of Split.
The opening ceremony is set for Friday evening at Split's waterfront Riva.
Concerts, fashion shows and multimedia presentations of the Diocletian era will be organised in the centre of this biggest Croatian Adriatic city.
Also food from the Roman period will be offered for tasting in the cellars of the palace.
Diocletian built the massive palace in preparation for his retirement on 1 May 305 AD.
