President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz arrived in Zagreb on Sunday afternoon to attend Croatia's celebration on the occasion of the country's joining the European Union on July 1.
According to the latest information, the guest list for the celebration includes around 170 high-level guests - 15 presidents of states, 13 prime ministers and three parliament speakers as well as several deputy prime ministers and other ministers. Most of the guests arrived Sunday afternoon.
Among the first to arrive was Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaite, Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov. A little later Serbia's President Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic arrived in Zagreb. Montenegro's President Filip Vujanovic and Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic had arrived a little earlier in the day as did Czech President Milos Zeman.
Croatia's chief-of-police Vlado Dominic reported that everything was running smoothly and there had been no major disruptions to traffic.
Airport staff have said that the majority of guests that were expected to arrive by plane have done so without any major problems as most arrived by 4 p.m.
Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico will be among the last to arrive and is expected to land around 22.25 p.m.
