Exhibition of Austrian contemporary art opens in Zagreb

An exhibition of Austrian contemporary art, entitled "Desiring the Real. Austria Contemporary", opened at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb on Tuesday evening.

The exhibition, featuring works by 22 young and middle-generation artists, was organised by the Department for International Affairs and Culture of the Austrian Ministry of Education, Art and Culture in cooperation with the Austrian Culture Forum in Zagreb.

It was opened by Croatian Deputy Culture Minister Berislav Sipus, and among those attending were Austrian Ambassador Andrea Ikic-Boehm, Austrian Culture Forum Director Georg Christian Lack and the Deputy Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Nenad Stazic.

The exhibition has been on tour since April 2012, its first stops being Belgrade and several museums in Mexico and Cuba. The next stops are Italy, Macedonia, Turkey, France, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, and Latvia.
