Croatia will do everything in its power to evacuate all Croatian citizens from Libya, Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Gordan Jandrokovic told a news conference on Wednesday, adding that 93 Croatian workers were evacuated from Tripoli today.
He said that of those 93 people, 28 are employees of the Geofizika company and 65 are employees of Viadukt.
"We will do everything to extract all Croatian citizens who want to be evacuated," Jandrokovic said.
Another 22 Geofizika workers and 11 Viadukt employees are expected to arrive in Croatia aboard a commercial flight, which means that all Viadukt workers will arrive in Zagreb on Wednesday. It is also expected that 18 Crosco workers will arrive in Croatia aboard a regular flight today.
Workers of another Croatian company - Montmontaza - located in Benghazi, the site of bloody clashes between anti-government protesters and security forces, are waiting to board a ship which is expected to sail in Benghazi.
"Unfortunately, they did not manage to board a Turkish ship which sailed out of Bengazi, due to a large number of Turkish workers," Montmontaza director Mladen Antunovic told reporters, adding that they could board the next ship.
"We are confident that 28 Montmontaza workers will leave Benghazi later today, and this is a priority," Minister Jandrokovic said.
There are more Croatian workers in other parts of Libya - some 80 Geofizika employes are in Zalla, 26 Crosco workers are in Kufra and 33 Crosco workers are in Jalo. The Croatian foreign ministry is trying to evacuate them by air.
