Addressing an election convention of the women's section of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), the party leader Tomislav Karamarko said in Zagreb on Saturday that the widow of the first Croatian President Franjo Tudjman, Mrs. Ankica Tudjman, was re-admitted to the party membership last Thursday.
Praising Mrs. Tudjman for her role in the HDZ and the present-day Croatia, Karamarko said that she was given the membership card No. 2 while membership card the No.1 was for "the founder of the Croatian state" and the HDZ, Franjo Tudjman.
Mrs. Ankica Tudjman used to be a member of the HDZ since the very beginning of the party in 1989, however she was expunged from the membership records in the 2000s when the then party leader Ivo Sanader revised the HDZ membership.
Before today's election convention, Karamarko supported National Bank Governor Boris Vujcic in his criticism of the current government's economic policy, but the opposition leader disagreed with Vujcic's opinion that also the previous, HDZ-led government was also to be blamed for the economic developments.
