The Croatian People's Party (HNS) said on Wednesday, after the county court in the Hungarian city of Kaposvar earlier today sentenced HNS president Radimir Cacic to 22 months for a fatal traffic accident in Hungary in 2010 prison and after Cacic resigned from all his positions in the government, that further decisions concerning Cacic's position within the HNS would be discussed at a meeting of HNS bodies.
The HNS said that its bodies would meet as soon as possible and will in a timely fashion inform the public of their decision.
After announcing his resignation to all positions in the government, Cacic spoke in his capacity of HNS president and said the party would make the necessary decisions, namely proposals for the HNS-designated positions within the government which it would harmonise with its strategic partner - the Social Democrats (SDP).
Cacic stressed that his party would not hold an electoral convention in the near future. The leadership of our party will remain the same, he said at the impromptu news conference he held in Zagreb after returning from an official visit to Qatar.
