After the World Court ruled on Thursday that Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence from Serbia was legal, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said that Serbia will never recognise Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence.
Addressing reporters in The Hague, Jeremic said Serbia would not change its policy towards Kosovo despite the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) decision that the breakaway province's 2008 declaration of independence did not violate international law.
"We see fundamentally no reason why we should change our principled policy on Kosovo as a result of this narrowly defined ruling," Jeremic said. "So we are going to continue with preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country being a priority."
Today we heard ICJ's technical opinion, but we did not hear if anyone had the right to succeed, Jeremic said announcing that the real debate on the issue would be held before the United Nations General Assembly.
