Croatian President Ivo Josipovic said in Brussels on Wednesday that the ruling majority would decide on the election calender in Croatia, adding that he would personally prefer if the (parliamentary) elections were held before a referendum on Croatia's EU admission.
"I cannot speculate about when the elections will be held, this of course depends on the ruling majority. We are aware of the constitutional provisions and elections will most definitely be held within the constitutional deadlines, but I would prefer if they were held before the referendum," Josipovic said.
Josipovic ended his two-day visit to Brussels today by talks with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy. He began the visit on Tuesday by attending the World Copyright Summit. Earlier that day, he held talks with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
