The Makarska Riviera has reported a 11-percent increase in the number of guests spending their holidays in mid-August on this 60-kilometre-long section of the Croatian Adriatic coast stretching from Brela to Gradac.
Currently there are 50,640 tourists in this part of the Croatian Adriatic coast, which is by 11 percent more than in the corresponding period of 2011, according to figures released by local tourist offices on Wednesday. Of them, 48,029 are foreigners, up by 12%, and the number of Croatian tourists in this Riviera has fallen by two percent on the year.
Hotels are hosting 11,500 guests, while others are in private accommodation.
The resort of Baska Voda is currently providing for 10,600 holiday-makers, ranking first on the list of resorts in the Makarska Riviera. The town of Makarska follows with 10,177 tourists, which is by a quarter more than in mid-August 2011.
The Makarska Riviera belongs to Split-Dalmatia County which saw a rise of four percent in the number of arrivals of guests from January to July this year. This county was visited by 1.05 million tourists in the said period.
