The local police on Friday arrested a man suspected of having smashed a window pane at the Islamic Centre on Thursday evening and would press charges against him after the completion of their probe, the county police directorate said in a press release.

According to a previous press release from the police, unidentified persons threw rocks at the recently opened Islamic Centre in the northern Adriatic city of Rijeka on Thursday evening, breaking one window. Nobody was injured in the incident. Police were informed around 2200 hours on Thursday that several persons were seen throwing rocks at the Islamic Centre, it was said on Friday morning.
In the meantime, this act of vandalism was deplored by the leadership of the Islamic community in Croatia, as well as by the Roman Catholic Archbishop in Rijeka, Ivan Devcic, and Mayor Vojko Obersnel.
