The head of the national committee overseeing Croatia's European Union accession negotiations with the European Union, Vesna Pusic, on Tuesday said that she expected the conclusion of the technical negotiations on 23 and 24 June, when a European Council meeting is scheduled.
"I hope that the negotiations will be wrapped up on 23-24 June at the European Council's meeting," Pusic said in her address at the law school in the Adriatic city of Split.
According to her, Croatia may join the 27-strong bloc on 1 July 2013 following reports from an informal working dinner EU member-states' foreign ministers held in Brussels on Monday evening.
Pusic recommended launching an information campaign on the advantages of Croatia's prospective admission to the EU.
Pusic also proposed the publication on the Internet of negotiating positions on the policy areas which Croatia had negotiated so far with Brussels.
She said that upon its entry into the EU, Croatia would be able to draw two to three billion euros annually from EU funds.
