Police in the coastal city of Sibenik arrested four persons on Wednesday morning on suspicion of maltreating Serb prisoners of war and civilians in the city's Kuline military prison in 1992.
Sibenik-Knin County Police Department spokeswoman Marica Kosor said earlier on Wednesday that the four persons were being held on the premises of the County Police Department. She would not say whether more arrests would be made.
The Ministry of the Interior said in a statement that the investigation was still in progress. It did not reveal the identity or age of the suspects.
In the late 1990s, media wrote about alleged abuses of prisoners in Kuline, which the Defence Ministry denied at the time.
