Split Airport was closed for one hour on Saturday afternoon due to a wildfire raging at Plano near Trogir, west of Split.
Huge columns of smoke obstructed the air traffic from 1500 hrs to 1600 hrs Saturday, the local police and the airport authorities said.
The blaze that erupted on late Friday night has so far burnt 600 hectares of grass and underbrush and pine forests.
Firefighters were still battling against the blaze on Saturday afternoon.
The airport authorities reported that the traffic was going back to normal at the airport.
