Serbian President Boris Tadic said on Sunday that Serbia and Croatia intended to find a solution that would facilitate an out-of-court settlement on the genocide lawsuits the two countries had filed against one another at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Speaking to reporters in Laktasi, northern Bosnia-Herzegovina, Tadic said that the two countries were looking for a solution that would facilitate the prosecution of war crimes, and that victims' rights would not be questioned in any way.

"Croatian President Ivo Josipovic and I discussed this at our last meeting and we are looking for a model that will not challenge the legal order or protect war criminals in any way," Tadic said.

Tadic arrived in Bosnia-Herzegovina today to attend a commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the breakout of surviving inmates of the World War II Jasenovac concentration camp. He will visit eastern Herzegovina on Monday, and on Tuesday he is to attend a business fair in Mostar, where he could meet with Croatian President Ivo Josipovic if he arrives for the event.
