World high jump champion Blanka Vlasic has decided to participate in the forthcoming Athletics World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, despite an injury of her leg.
"I am going to the world championships and I will do my best as it cannot be worse than it has been," the Croatian record holder in high jump said at a news conference in Split on Friday.
A few days ago, Vlasic's participation in the championships to be held from 27 August to 4 September seemed uncertain when she revealed that she was suffering from an injury in muscles of her leg.
She said she had been feeling a pain since the middle of the ongoing season.
Vlasic said that there were many reasons for the cancellation of her trip to South Korea, however, she said she could not stay at home watching her rivals on television.
"As long as I can walk, I will jump," she added.
