Slightly over 360,000 voters or 11.45% cast their ballots by 11 am on Sunday in a second round of local elections in Croatia, the State Election Commission (DIP) reported.

Compared with the first round, which was held on May 19, today's turnout was about 2% lower, but in relation to the election runoff held four years ago, the turnout by 11 am today was higher, DIP chairman Branko Hrvatin told a press conference. The turnout by 11 am in 2009 was 10.80%.

The highest turnout was recorded in Vukovar where nearly a fifth of the electorate, or 19.65%, turned out for the vote by 11 am, while the lowest turnout, of merely 6.14%, was recorded in Koprivnica.

Among the four largest cities, the lowest turnout was in Rijeka, only 6.91%. In Osijek, 14.58% of voters cast their ballots by 11 am, as against 12.74% in Split and 11.27% in Zagreb.

Among the counties, the highest turnout was reported in Dubrovnik-Neretva County (14.41%) and the lowest in Bjelovar-Bilogora County (7.66%) and Koprivnica-Krizevci County (7.81%).

Some 3.3 million people were eligible to vote.
