After Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic gave the Cibona basketball club an ultimatum and demanded the resignations of the club's board of directors and executives, Cibona employees met with Bandic and a board meeting was set for Tuesday
Although the highlight of this week should be Cibona's Euroleague match with Italian side Siena, this has been overshadowed by the Zagreb club's dire financial situation. However, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel as a work group dedicated to saving the club has met with Mayor Milan Bandic, who recently vowed to help the club.
'It was clear to me from day one that City Hall could help us out. I believe that the people in charge of Cibona will have the sense to settle this situation. All I'm interested in here is coaching", Radulovic told a press conference leading up to the Siena game.
The press was issued a statement by the club in which stated that the players and staff had met and contacted Mayor Bandic - who promised that a solution will be found.
'The Mayor said that he backs the team, and that the situation will be settled just as soon as the board leaves the club. [Bandic] told us that, as far as he was concerned, Cibona's fate was secure from day one. City Hall is our only chance. I believe that they have honest intentions," Radulovic concluded.
A meeting of the board has been called for 2 o'clock PM and it may mean a clean slate for the troubled club.
