Several hundred veterans organised in the Association of Special Police forces and other Homeland War associations gathered at Zagreb's Mirogoj cemetery before attending a special evening Mass in the Zagreb Cathedral in wake of the final verdict against Croatian Generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac expected to be handed down by the International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on Friday.
After the Mass, the crowd gathered on Zagreb's main square to attend a vigil for the two generals. A special video screen has been prepared to televise live the proceedings in The Hague on Friday.
About 40 Croatian ex-patriots gathered in front of the Tribunal building in The Hague today to contribute to the vigil. The Croatian World Congress coordinated similar gatherings in a global action "The voice of Croatia's pride" and ex-patriots around the world have decided to gather and show their sign of support too.
Masses which started at 18:11, symbolically commemorating the fall of the besieged town of Vukovar during the Homeland war, were held in a series of cities and towns in the country and abroad as a sign of support to the generals.
