The European Union-Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committee held its 14th meeting in Brussels on Tuesday, discussing preparations for the signing of Croatia's accession treaty and the information campaign in Croatia ahead of a referendum on accession.

This was the first Committee meeting after Croatia completed accession negotiations in June.

The Committee adopted joint recommendations which welcome the completion of the negotiations and underline that Croatia carried out an impressive number of reforms through the negotiations.

The recommendations call on the Croatian and European Parliaments to intensify preparations for the arrival of Croatian observers in the European Parliament.

After the signing of the accession treaty, scheduled for December 19, Croatian representatives will be able to take part in the work of European institutions as observers. Croatia will have 12 members of the European Parliament and as many observers until accession on 1 July 2013.
