Former fire commander Drazen Slavica on Monday was cleared of all charges relating to the deaths of 12 firemen in a wildfire on Kornat island in August 2007.
Presenting his closing statement before the Zadar County Court, the prosecutor called for an "appropriate" prison sentence for Slavica saying that he was responsible for the deaths of the 12 firefighters and serious injury of the only survivor, Frane Lucic.
The trial started in November 2010.
The verdict is subject to appeal.
