At the EHF Euro 2008, Denmark beat Croatia in the final and now, with a place in the semi-finals at stake, it was clear from the start that both teams would give absolutely everything they had.

And what a match the audience in the Stadthalle in Vienna were treated to.  High tempo, fantastic goals, frantic defending and great goalkeeping.  Everything was on show in the first half, leaving the audience, let alone the players breathless.

Croatian coach, Lino Cervar, announced earlier this week that he would quit after  EHF EURO 2010 because of harsh criticism of his work back home.  In the last minute, he was victoriously pumping his fist in front of the TV-cameras, sending a message to his detractors.  Hopefully both parties will reassess their position on the evidence of this match.

After the game, he was of course a happy man.  “This was our best match at the EHF EURO 2010.  We played really well, both in attack and defence.  Alilovic was great and the crowd really helped us tonight, they were outstanding,” he concluded.
