The coastal town of Pakostane, the home-town of General Ante Gotovina, one of the three Croatian generals awaiting a judgement of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), was calm on Friday morning ahead of the rendering of a verdict by the ICTY tribunal in the Hague later in the day.

Many reporters, television and radio crews from Croatia and several foreign journalists have visited Pakostane to make reports from Gotovina's hometown.

Mass was said in the local parish church at 7 am Friday and residents were doing their everyday chores this morning.

A jumbo poster portraying Gotovina was set up in the centre of this town near the Adriatic city of Zadar.

A huge banner reading "General, We are Waiting for Your Command" was set up in Zadar.
