The pilots of the two MiG 21 aircraft which crashed on Thursday during an exercise at a military training ground outside Slunj, about 80 km south of Zagreb, were released from Zagreb's Dubrava hospital, where they were treated for light injuries sustained in the crash, on Friday afternoon.
Hospital administrator Milan Kujundzic told reporters the pilots were physically and mentally well.
Earlier on Friday, the pilots, Captain Igor Troselj and First Lieutenant Marijan Kudlik, were visited by Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, Defence Minister Branko Vukelic, Chief of Staff General Josip Lucic, and the presidential advisor on defence, Zlatko Gareljic.
On that occasion, Troselj and Kudlik thanked their colleagues in the Air Force and special operations battalion for rescuing them quickly.
The Croatian Air Force Commander, Major General Vlado Bagaric, said later on Friday the pilots would give depositions to the commission probing the causes of the crash when doctors approved it.
He added the investigation would also establish how a woman on the ground was injured during the crash, whether by the planes' debris or ammunition.
Bagaric denied that the two planes crashed after colliding in the air.
