Defence Minister Ante Kotromanovic has said that Croatia needs to make a decision within the next 45 days on whether to supply the Air Force with new aircraft or overhaul the existing planes in the fleet.

The minister said on Wednesday that the Defence Council would soon be convened to discuss the matter.

Asked what kind of decision could be expected in light of the fact that a Mig-21 airplane of the Croatian Air Force was damaged during its test flight on Tuesday, Kotromanovic said today that the decision in this regard should be made as soon as possible as they were already late.

"I am sorry to see that eight years have passed in waiting for a decision to be made. We must now hurry up and make any decision," he said, adding that both the purchase of new planes and the overhauling of the existing ones was likely.
