The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MVPEI) issued a statement on Friday dismissing insinuations about alleged talks on the sale of Croatian water resources during Minister Gordan Jandrokovic's recent visit to the United States.

"We should note that at a meeting in Washington between the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Gordan Jandrokovic, and the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, and in their subsequent address to the public there was no mention of the sale of Hrvatske Vode and water resources, but a package of public-sector investment projects of interest to the Republic of Croatia was presented," the statement said.

The projects concern possible investments in the areas of energy, tourism, transport infrastructure and water management. A full catalogue of investment projects, worth 13.8 billion euros, was adopted at a Croatian government session on September 23, 2010.

Projects relating to water management include the construction of waste water drainage systems and water purification plants, a multipurpose Danube-Sava canal, and irrigation projects.
