Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said on Thursday she had never mentioned launching an investigation into transcripts from the Office of the President because the government did not plan to launch an investigation, adding that what she said was that she would request a report on the work of the government's office for cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).

"What we want to do is establish facts about the work of that office since its establishment in 1996, in keeping with our permanent commitment to open and full cooperation with the ICTY and in accordance with the constitutional law," Kosor told reporters.

Recalling that the government's office for cooperation with the Hague tribunal was part of the Justice Ministry, Kosor said that a preliminary report had already been forwarded to her.

She said that work on establishing facts concerning the said transcripts would soon be completed. "Once the report is completed, if in our opinion there should be some exceptionally important elements for the public, we will inform the public about it," Kosor said, adding that the report would be discussed by the inner cabinet.

"Every government that wants its country to function as a law-based state has the right to ask for reports from its offices," Kosor said.
