Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic said on Thursday that Wednesday's explosion on the railway track in Zagreb's western district of Podsused had no characteristics of an act of terrorism because no one left any message or claimed responsibility for the blast.
Speaking to the press before a Cabinet meeting, Ostojic said that the police, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Security and Intelligence Agency (SOA) had set up a special task force to deal with the case.
"This is a serious incident (...) and we are giving it our maximum attention. I am confident that the steps that are being taken will lead to the discovery of the perpetrator," the minister said.
Police have said that the explosion was caused by an unidentified explosive device. The blast, which occurred at 0350 hours on Wednesday, damaged a freight train and the railway track and shattered windows on five nearby family houses, but no one was injured.
