A three-day international investment conference called "Sarajevo Business Forum" began in the Bosnian capital on Wednesday, bringing together more than 300 potential investors from 25 countries.

The third edition of the conference was organised by the Sarajevo-headquartered Bosna Bank International (BBI), whose capital comes mainly from Islamic countries.

The president of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Ahmad Mohammad Ali, a special guest at the event, said he hoped the forum would contribute to the continuation of the economic development of Bosnia and the region.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan expressed Turkey's strong support to Bosnia and to plans for investments in that country.

It is clear to all of us that if there is no peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, there can be no peace and stability in the region either, Babacan said announcing Turkish investments in Bosnia in the amount of EUR 100 million.

During the first day of the forum, participants discussed the investment climate in southeastern Europe and regional cooperation.

In the next two days, they are expected to consider 137 proposed projects with the potential value of over 8.5 billion euros.
