The villa in which Split Mayor Zeljko Kerum, a businessman-turned-politician, and his common-law wife Fani Horvat live was burglarised in the wee hours of the Sunday morning, and jewelry and a considerable amount of money were taken, the police in that biggest Croatian Adriatic city reported on Sunday.
The police did not reveal any more details, citing the ongoing investigation.
According to unofficial reports Horvat's jewelry was stolen. Fani Horvat was later seen in their other villa in Split, however, the mayor Kerum has not yet been seen in the public.
The police received a report on the burglary at about 0400 hrs this morning and they immediately launched an on-site probe.
According to some media, none of the family was in the villa in the residential area of Meje when it was burglarised.
