This year's list of tax defaulters shorter by 10,302 defaulters

The latest list of tax defaulters, released by the Tax Authority on July 31, shows a considerable decline in their number.

The list contains data processed by July 24 and identifies 92,068 tax defaulters, which is 10,302 fewer than a year ago.

Among 5,247 legal persons, the biggest debtor is the bankrupt paper company Pan which owes a total of HRK 154.97 million in taxes. It is followed by the Zagreb-based trading company Euro-market with a total tax debt of HRK 101.7 million and the light bulb manufacturer Tvornica Elektricnih Zarulja, whose tax debt has reached HRK 76.9 million.

The number of companies that owe more than HRK 300,000 in taxes and contributions is 5,247, or 1,877 fewer than last year.

The number of small business owners who owe more than HRK 100,000 in taxes is 10,540, or 2,526 fewer than last year.

The number of private citizens who owe more than 15,000 in taxes is 76,281, or 5,899 fewer than last year.

This year's list of tax defaulters also includes foreign nationals, among them Xuejun Xu whose tax debt exceeds HRK 9 million.

The figure of the total tax debt was not given.
