The NGOs Vigilare and Centre for the Renewal of Culture on Wednesday welcomed a ruling by the Constitutional Court to abolish the Health Education Curriculum in Croatian schools and called for the resignations of Education Minister Zeljko Jovanovic's, education agency head Vinko Filipovic and Children's Ombduswoman Mila Jelavic.

"Vigilare, the Centre for the Renewal of Culture and dozens of other NGOs and thousands of parents welcomed this decision. From the beginning we claimed that the curriculum was introduced undemocratically and that parental constitutional rights were not respected with regard to their decision on the education of their children", the NGO's said in a press release.

We consider that the main actors in this scandal should resign as an "act of satisfaction for insulting and ignoring the rights of parents, NGO's and all those who were not in favour of the curriculum and that they should answer for the damages done to children where the curriculum was illegally conducted in some schools", the NGOs said.

Representatives of the Grozd and Reforma NGOs told a press conference that they also considered these three should resign because they intentionally introduced the curriculum without the agreement of parents.
