Zagreb and Rijeka will co-host the European Universities Games in July 2016, which are expected to bring together about 4,000 student athletes from over 200 European universities.

The decision was made by the Executive Committee of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) at its meeting in Ljubljana on Saturday, Croatian Science, Education and Sport Minister Zeljko Jovanovic announced at a press conference on Saturday.

The Games will most likely take place from July 12 to 25, 2016.

Zagreb hosted the World University Games, or the Universiade, in 1987.
