The unions of pilots and cabin staff at Croatia Airlines (CA) will continue to strike on Thursday for the third day running because they did not manage to come to an agreement with the airline's management.
"Negotiations broke off around 5 p.m. and the strike will continue tomorrow", a spokeswoman for the flight attendants' union told Hina.
The two unions are seeking that rights specified in a collective agreement that expired in March be retained as the new collective agreement which has been signed by four CA unions, would significantly reduce their incomes.
CA management is not willing to give in to union demands, claiming that this would threaten the company's restructuring and survival.
The two unions however claim that management is threatening them with the airline's bankruptcy if they do not concede to the new collective agreement.
The talks continued with the same attitudes and threats, a spokesman for the pilots' union said.
CA has cancelled 14 flights scheduled for Thursday while alternative planes will be found for another 16 flights. So far CA has had to cancel 46 flights in two days of industrial action.
Management said earlier that CA had lost one million kuna just on Tuesday and after today, losses could be more than two million.
Union reps however underscored that they were not to blame for the damage done.
CA has advised that all passengers will be catered for and flown to their planned destinations.
