European Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele on Monday said in Belgrade that whether Serbia was to be given a date in June to start accession negotiations with the EU depended on visible and sustainable progress in normalising relations with Pristina and upholding reforms that the EU expects of Belgrade.

After speaking with Serbia's President Tomislav Nikolic, Fuele said that he supported Belgrade's efforts in European integration processes and the new dynamics in negotiations with Pristina.

President Nikolic pointed out everything that Serbia has done to meet conditions set by the EU but that nothing more or less could be done in the dialogue with Pristina than is noted in the resolution on Kosovo which was adopted in the Serbian parliament.

Nikolic underscored that the other side too must give in a little and that Serbia was prepared for any form of dialogue with the EU.

He added that he and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic did not have any dissension as far as the dialogue with Pristina was concerned.

Fuele is expected to meet with PM Dacic before departing Belgrade for Pristina.

An EU delegation is set to meet with Serbian officials responsible for European integration to discuss Belgrade's obligations regarding the judiciary, an anti-corruption strategy, freedom of the press and inclusion of vulnerable minority groups. The EU insists that reforms in these fields be stepped up.
