Gov't takes note of Uljanik's binding offer for 3. Maj dock

The government on Thursday took note of the binding offer submitted by the Pula-based Uljanik dock for the purchase of the Rijeka-based 3. May shipbuilding company which Uljanik forwarded to the Economy Ministry.

Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak said that Uljanik offered one kuna for 1,051,118 stocks in 3. Maj or a total of 83.3 per cent of the stock capital and HRK 75 million of its corporate guarantees for the dock's restructuring plan.

Uljanik said it its offer that t would enable small shareholders to gain a total of 25 per cent ownership of 3. Maj stocks.

Uljanik's offer does not refer to four 3. Maj affiliates for which the Economy Ministry proposed that they be transferred to the ownership of the State Property Management Agency (AUDIO).

The government took note of Uljanik's offer and tasked the Economy Ministry, the Finance Ministry, AUDIO and the Croatian shipbuilding company Jadranbrod with examining the offer and report back to the government about the activities they have taken.

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said the his cabinet had established a devastating situation in 3. Maj but that it had managed to find a privatisation model.

Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic said that with the proposed privatisation models for state-owned shipyards Croatia would meet the most important requirement set by the European Commission which the country do before entering the European Union.

At its session on Thursday, the government also accepted a bill regulating the gas market and a decision to sell the Slavonia Osijek clothing retailer.

The government decided to sign cooperation agreements with employers associations and unionists on several level.

The Milanovic cabinet also adopted a regional subsidy map under which regional grants can be allocated to the Adriatic Croatia and the Continental Croatia, whose purchasing power parity is 46.7% and 49.6% of the average EU PPP per capita respectively.
