After voting in Sunday's referendum on Croatia's EU entry, the leader of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Jadranka Kosor, said she believed the referendum would be "more than successful".
"With its history, culture and Christian tradition Croatia belongs to Europe and we have to confirm that in the referendum today," Kosor said, adding that she believed the referendum would be more than successful.
On 1 July 2013 Croatia will sit at the same table with European countries and nations and no one will make decisions about us without our involvement any longer, Croatia will share with the other 27 EU members the values of stability, peace, prosperity and freedom, Kosor said.
"It was an honour for me to lead the government that brought Croatia's EU talks to completion."
Asked what she was personally happy about, she said that Croatia would be an asset to the EU and contribute to its future.
"By completing the EU talks and signing the Accession Treaty, Croatia is returning home and I believe that many citizens will decide so. I believe in it," Kosor said.
