The president of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party and former prime minister, Jadranka Kosor, has announced that she will run for HDZ president at the forthcoming party election.
"I think I have done quite a few things. I have carried a huge and tremendous burden and have endured it all," Kosor said in an interview with the Z1 commercial television network on Tuesday evening.
When asked whether she would stand for HDZ president, Kosor answered affirmatively, adding that it would be logical.
She recalled the achievements of her government during her term as prime minister for two and a half years, since July 2009 when her predecessor Ivo Sanader abruptly resigned. "I'm sure we did the best we could and that we produced results," she said.
Kosor said that her main criticism of the new coalition government led by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was that "they did not reveal their true platform and their true intentions during the election campaign."
