Commenting on her talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Zagreb on Monday, Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said on Tuesday that the central topic of the talks was the strengthening of economic cooperation, adding that the talks also focused on possible investments in the energy sector and infrastructure and that both sides expressed hope German investments in Croatia would increase.
"I cannot pinpoint a single project because we spoke in general, but we also addressed projects that are now in various phases," Kosor told reporters after today's visit to Stara Gradiska where European Remembrance Day honouring victims of totalitarian and authoritarian regimes was observed.
Kosor also said she and Merkel talked about possible investments in the energy sector and infrastructure. We underlined several excellent examples of German investments in Croatia, Kosor said.
We would like to expand the potential of German investment and Merkel shares that wish, Kosor said, expressing satisfaction that the talks with Merkel focused on the strengthening of economic cooperation.
Kosor also said the talks were held in light of the fact that Croatia will become the 28th member of the European Union.
I emphasise what the government has done over the past two years concerning fiscal responsibility, Kosor said adding that she particularly highlighted the plan to reduce deficit by 2014.
