The new penal code, which will go into force on 1 January 2013, will also introduce qualifications for reckless driving, Justice Minister Orsat Miljenic said on Monday.
The new legislation will have a new concept of safety in traffic, and traffic safety terms will be expanded also to sea traffic, Miljenic told reporters after presenting draft legislation on financial performance.
We want to protect the safety of swimmers and all other participants in maritime traffic and reckless boat driving will be treated as a criminal offence, however, the penalties have not yet been elaborated, the minister said, adding that the illegal possession of drugs for personal consumption is likely to be treated as an act of misdemeanor and no longer as a crime.
