Croatia Airlines (CA) pilot and flight attendant unions are on strike for the six consecutive day on Sunday, costing the company HRK 6.5 million so far, CA said, adding that management and the two unions were talking in a bid to reach a compromise.

The airline's PR, Ksenija Zlof, told the media meetings were under way and that everyone hoped in a favourable outcome of today's meeting, saying that whether the strike would continue on Monday depended on today's outcome.

"They are not negotiations but talks. These meetings don't mean management has yielded in its terms. Management and the unions are trying to bring their positions and opinions closer together," she said, adding that management and the unions had been talking from the beginning of the strike.

Zlof said daily losses were between one million and 1.5 million kuna.

According to the CA website, 27 flights have been cancelled today and planes rented for 15.
