The chairman of the management board of the Croatian power supply company HEP, Zlatko Koracevic, said on Friday seven companies had expressed an interest in a partnership with HEP in the construction and operation of the Plomin C thermal power plant, and not six as reported by HEP earlier.

"Seven companies have expressed an interest and all seven bidders are the most powerful world companies," Koracevic told the media.

HEP will formulate by September 28 a list of potential partners who will be invited to submit binding offers by the end of the year. The strategic partner will be chosen under the announced criteria, particularly with regard to the share of domestic companies in the project.

HEP invited bids for a strategic partner in Plomin C, a 500 megawatt coal-fuelled plant, on July 24. The submission deadline was today. The investment is worth EUR 800 million.

HEP announced in July the strategic partner would be chosen in the first quarter of 2013 and that the deadline for the completion of the project was between 2015 and 2017.
