The State Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has set for February 1 a hearing at which representatives of the Bosnian State Attorney's Office will state their position on Serbia's request for the extradition of Croatian war veteran Tihomir Purda, court officials confirmed on Thursday.
The presentation of arguments by the prosecution and the defence counsel is an integral part of proceedings in which the State Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina decides on a request for the extradition of a person arrested in Bosnia and Herzegovina and wanted by another country.
The Serbian authorities, which want Purda on war crimes charges, submitted the request for his extradition to the Bosnian court last week, which was why his extradition custody was extended by another 22 days.
Purda's defence attorneys appealed this decision, but the State Court rejected the appeal on Wednesday.
Purda has been in detention in Zenica since January 5, when he was apprehended on a Serbian arrest warrant on the border crossing Orasje in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
